Pay it forward a popular global initiative encourages people to make a difference. This is by creating a huge ripple of kindness across the world with a hope that people make each day brighter. Radiance's philosophy is similar Our corporate sustainability extends to the triple bottom line of people, planet, and profit. Paying forward is an instinctive part of our company's culture. Here's a timeline of activities on how we were able to exchange positivity amidst people around us
Lighting up people's lives
The festival of lights, Diwali, is one of India's biggest celebrations, when homes, institutions and neighbourhoods are decorated and lit up on this auspicious moonless night. In the current state of affairs, where we are always on the run Radiance brought in families from the Lakefront and Mercury properties in an evening together. This was a break from monotony, encouraging people to exchange warmth with loving neighbours and ringing in the beautiful festival with positivity. Here are few pictures that you can enjoy. From the innocent smile of children, to undiscovered singing talents this was evening of joy.
Caring for the stray Taking the animal cause seriously
As Mahatma Gandhi once said, ''The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.'' Today, there are millions of stray dogs on the streets of India and with natural disasters they often get displaced or injured. The Besant Memorial Animal Dispensary is an outreach programme for animal welfare run by the Theosophical Society in Besant Nagar, Chennai and has been functional for the past 25 years. They provide vaccinations/treatment for injured and abandoned animals including free OP for dogs and cats. This shelter was ravaged because of the 2016 cyclone. Recently, the Radiance team joined hands with Shravan Krishnan, a young and dynamic animal rights activist from Chennai to rebuild the Besant Memorial Animal Dispensary's infrastructure before the 2017 rains. The shelter now is leak proof and all the animals are safe. The facility hosts and provides free medical treatment to over 100+ abandoned and injured dogs.
Spending time with the differently-abled
Oftentimes, differently-abled people see what we can't, hear what we can't and think what we can't. While conditions like autism can affect their everyday functions, it should not stop them from enjoying an enriched and loved life. Many differently-abled people are known to flourish and rejoice in life with the right opportunity, support and love. On a Wednesday morning, we dropped our laptops behind at work and took some paper and colours to the Spastics Society in Chennai. We discovered some brilliant artists that morning. Watch this space for more of how we put them to use. Spastics Society of Tamilnadu (SPASTN) empowers and enables such differently-abled people to reach their full potential through education, training and employment. We are proud to join their movement on improving access for the differently-abled and by promoting a barrier free environment.
